Explore the underground dungeons of the Colosseum and get an in-depth experience of the monument with a licensed, professional tour guide. Walk through the Roman Forum and up into the Palatine Hill while learning about everyday life of the ancient Romans.

As you walk beneath the center stage of the Colosseum, your guide will explain the sophisticated elevator/trap door system used to send wild animals into the gladiator battles. You will see where these wild beasts were kept as well as the water source that could have been used to recreate naval battles. With your fun and friendly guide leading the way, you will explore the rest of the Colosseum before making your way to the Ancient City.

The Roman Forum, Rome’s ancient city center, is overflowing with ancient architecture and the Palatine Hill is home to what remains of the imperial palaces. You will be completely surrounded by Rome’s incredible scenery as your guide brings the history to life!

Depending on the reservation time, the tour route may start in the Roman Forum/Palatine Hill.

Only small bags/backpacks are allowed. No bags with wheels are permitted.

Glass containers, aerosol sprays and weapons are not permitted.

Covid safety measures have increased the time for security checks. The security check line is required for all visitors and cannot be skipped.

Great pace, lots of interesting facts, Barbara was a fantastic guide!!

The VIP access to the underground areas was incredible! Our guide brought the ancient history of Rome to life, and the smaller group made the experience feel more personal. Seeing the Colosseum from below was a highlight, and exploring the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill afterward rounded out a perfect tour.

This tour offered a unique perspective of the Colosseum, especially with the underground access. The guide was excellent, and the pace was just right. My only minor complaint is that it would have been nice to have a bit more time in the Roman Forum, but overall, it was a fantastic experience.
